In Tuesday's election, Will Berg, information officer for the Port of Hueneme, won the Port Hueneme City Council seat vacated by Doug Breeze.

Berg was the top vote-getter with 1,731 votes in the race for City Council.

Berg said he hopes that with a full five-member board, there will be progress made on the many issues facing the city. Breeze has not attended a council meeting since early September due to health reasons, and the council has voted 2-2 on many issues. A 2-2 vote defeats a motion.

"I'm very happy with the results and am looking forward to working with the council as it is going to be," Berg said. "One of the main issues has been lack of progress on the many issues and policies needed to help rebuild the city's finances."
